07/10/2003 Archived Entry: "Red Sox Nation votes Varitek All-Star"

Last All-Star Game the fans voted in Johnny Damon. This season I am psyched to say the fans came out in force and voted in deserving Jason Varitek. Tek beat out Chicago’s hometown favorite Frank Thomas. As a side note, I hope my 50 or so votes helped but I wouldn’t really know. MLB.com didn’t report the vote totals. Well I couldn’t find them anyhow. They gave the total for Tek but I couldn’t find how many votes the Big Hurt actually received. And initially it was reported to be a close race. The same thing bothered me about the regular All-Star voting. During the voting they showed and even updated some vote totals, but I wanted the full breakdown! It puzzles me why they don’t provide it.
