It looks like Lou is going to the Padres. I hope the move works out for the Red Sox but as a fan I'm sorry to see him go. I do think the decision was made in part because he was the utility player with an option left.
Today the Globe and Herald printed articles about the issue before Lou was claimed off waivers.
Best of luck, Lou. Boston fans will miss you.

In their first solid effort since GM Mike O'Connell took over as head coach, the Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2. After not looking great in the first, Goalie Steve Shields made some amazing saves in the second and third periods. Mike Knuble, who won the 7th player award, scored the tiebreaking goal at the start of the 3rd period. It was an intense and well played game all around. Go Bruins!

General Manager Mike O'Connell announced that Robbie Ftorek was fired Wednesday as coach of the Boston Bruins.
I don't like that the Bruins wishwashed around this. If they were going to fire him they should have done it before now! It is silly to think that just because they fired Robbie they have a chance at winning the Stanley Cup like the Devils did after they fired Robbie in 2000. The Bruins have a chance to be successful in the playoffs but it won't happen simply because they fired Robbie. The players have to step up and make it happen. At any rate, it's sad to see him go like this.

The new Red Sox AA Affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs, added a Green Monster-esque left field wall to Hadlock field.

I'm watching the Bruins on NESN and listening to the WEEI Red Sox broadcast. I wish I could watch the Red Sox game via MLB.TV streaming video but it's blackedout even though it's not on any local TV station! Seems unfair but I guess the TV stations are very protective of their broadcast rights.

The Bruins get 2 defenseman, Dan McGillis from the San Jose Sharks and Ian Moran from the Pittsburgh Penguins, before the trade deadline. Hopefully these additions will boost the struggling B's defense.
